School board signs the architect agreement for future high school facilities and approves the superintendent's contract
The district won the Lone Star Cup for 2024-2025; a new state testing structure begins in 2027-2028; and a Flock camera agreement with Annetta and fiber upgrades were previewed.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Sept. 15, 2025, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Susan Bohn recounted the history of the Bearcats of Character program, previewed homecoming, and celebrated the district's Lone Star Cup for the 2024-2025 school year. Vice President David Lear reported on the Legislature's second special session, including a new state testing structure that begins in the 2027-2028 school year, and Trustee Zachary Tarrant updated the board on the Aledo Growth Committee. Annetta Elementary presented, and the board commended the campus's kindergarten team and the month's Bearcats of Character.
Five members of the public spoke on agenda items. The consent agenda passed 7-0 and included the public notice of federal grant applications, the 2025-2026 memorandum of understanding with the Aledo Education Foundation, School Health Advisory Council appointees, a resolution on review of the investment program, certifications required by Senate Bill 12 of the 89th Legislature, and class size waivers.
The board approved 7-0 the standard form of agreement between owner and architect for conceptual design of future additional high school facilities, presented by Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Caleb Bell. In communication items, Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey presented the district's instructional priorities and baseline data, with updates on special programs and gifted and talented; Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond presented draft policies from Update 125, with President Forrest Collins and Bohn directing that the board operating procedures subcommittee review BDB(Local) and BDF(Local) before the next meeting, and the district and campus improvement plans; Chief of Police David Stevens discussed an interlocal agreement with the Town of Annetta on Flock security systems; and Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore discussed fiber optic cabling upgrades.
After an executive session beginning at 8:10 p.m. on the superintendent's contract, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter, the board approved the superintendent's contract as presented, 7-0, and adjourned at 8:52 p.m.
