School board accepts the audit for the year ended Aug. 31, 2024, and calls the May 3, 2025, trustee election

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 21, 2025, with Trustees Forrest Collins, David Lear, Jennifer Taylor, Jim Scott, Jeremy Pruett and Zachary Tarrant present. Superintendent Susan Bohn recognized the trustees for School Board Appreciation Month. Lear outlined key legislative priorities for the 89th session that began in January 2025. Tarrant updated each of the 2023 bond projects and said trustees and administrators had toured the Forney ISD Opportunity Central campus as Aledo ISD leadership considers options for future needs.
Aledo High School and the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus presented, and the board commended the month's Bearcats of Character and Vandagriff Elementary's third-grade team. The consent agenda, including class size waivers, passed 6-0.
The board approved, each 6-0, the annual financial audit for the year ended Aug. 31, 2024, after its presentation by Kent Willis of Pattillo, Brown & Hill, and the calling of the May 3, 2025, Board of Trustees election, both presented by Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared the three big ideas of professional learning communities and Cycle 2 ratings; Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill presented the 2023-2024 Texas Academic Performance Report at a public hearing that drew no comments and reviewed the draft 2025-2026 calendar; Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell updated the 2023 bond projects; and Husfeld shared the cooperative purchasing management fees and rebates report. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney and real property was posted.
