School board forms legislative and operating-procedures subcommittees, hears a safety and security update, and takes no action on a TASB board endorsement
The 2017-2018 accountability ratings got a public hearing, the education foundation's golf tournament raised $49,000, and the XG training schedule was set. Both votes were 7-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Aug. 20, 2018, with all seven trustees present. Executive Director of Accountability Denise Dugger presented the district's 2017-2018 state accountability ratings at a public hearing. President Hoyt Harris summarized the coming XG training, five sessions beginning Sept. 4. Julie Turner reported the education foundation's golf tournament raised $49,000 and previewed a Bearcat Alley at homecoming. A resident spoke about the budget, finances and salaries.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included the supplies vendor list, the appraiser calendar, a band trip to Florida, an agriscience team trip to the FFA national convention in Indiana and a Tarrant County 4-H resolution. Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey presented the 2018-2019 instructional focus; Director of Student Services and Safety Scott Kessel and Chief Fred Collie presented school safety and security upgrades; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney reported the 2017-2018 parent and teacher survey results; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented the 2018-2019 budget, a resolution to prepay part of the 2007 bond series and the tax rate, all for votes the following week.
The board discussed candidates for the Region 11 seat on TASB's board and took no action. It voted 7-0 to form a legislative subcommittee, to which Harris appointed Bobby J. Rigues as chair with Forrest Collins and Jessica Brown, and 7-0 to form a board operating procedures subcommittee, to which he appointed Jennifer Loftin as chair with Collins and David Lear. After an executive session from 9:35 to 11:40 p.m. on the superintendent's performance and evaluation instrument, safety and security, and real property, the meeting adjourned at 11:42 p.m.
