School board honors the 2023 state football champions, sets the 2024-2025 calendar, approves bond furniture and the high school's guaranteed maximum price, accepts the audit and calls the May 4 election
Nine action items passed 6-0, including Policy Update 122's ten local policies and a class-ranking change. No one commented at the 2022-2023 TAPR hearing.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 16, 2024, with all seven trustees present: Forrest Collins, Hoyt Harris, Zachary Tarrant, Jessica Brown, David Lear, Jennifer Taylor and Jennifer Loftin. Superintendent Susan Bohn thanked families for getting students to school in the cold and acknowledged the football state champions and every group that supports the team. Lear discussed the coming primary election and its public-school topics, and Brown updated the 2023 bond projects.
Vandagriff Elementary presented on its ambassador program, a campus newspaper and student service projects. The board marked School Board Recognition Month and commended TMEA All-State choir and band members, the 2023 Class 5A Division I state champion football team and its academic all-state athletes, and Coder Elementary's third-grade team. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included a revised interlocal agreement with the City of Hudson Oaks.
The board approved, each 6-0: the 2024-2025 district instructional calendar, presented by Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill; furniture replacement for the high school and ninth grade campus, furniture for Lynn McKinney Elementary and furniture for the Steve Wood Complex, all from the 2023 bond, and the guaranteed maximum price for the Aledo High School renovations and additions, all presented by Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell; Board Policy Update 122, ten local policies covering cybersecurity, facility safety and security, employment practices, special and compensatory programs, accelerated instruction, compulsory attendance, medical treatment, crisis intervention and student records; policy EIC(Local) on class ranking, presented by Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond; the annual financial audit for the year ended Aug. 31, 2023, after Kent Willis of Patillo, Brown & Hill presented the findings; and the calling of the May 4, 2024, trustee election.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and instructional specialists shared PLC data; Summerhill presented the 2022-2023 Texas Academic Performance Report at a public hearing; Campbell updated the bond projects and previewed high school rooftop unit replacements; Executive Director of Technology Brooks Moore previewed technology for McKinney Elementary and student Chromebooks; Bohn and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reviewed the 2024-2025 budget process; and Assistant Superintendent Ingia Saxton previewed the District of Innovation plan renewal. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update was posted.
