School board adopts the 2018-2019 improvement plans and hears the bond planning process as the new facilities director is introduced
A state champion cross country runner was honored, the District of Innovation exemptions were previewed, and Walsh Gallegos Trevino Russo & Kyle was engaged on consent. Both votes were 6-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Nov. 12, 2018, with President Hoyt Harris, Vice President Jennifer Loftin, Secretary Forrest Collins and Trustees Jessica Brown, Bobby J. Rigues and David Lear present. Aledo High School presented its certified nursing assistant program through Weatherford College, with a 100% pass rate since 2015. The board honored the UIL Class 5A state champion in cross country, and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld introduced Tyler Boswell as director of facilities and construction. Harris reported the first Local Government Collaborative meeting on Oct. 4, with State Representative Phil King expected Dec. 10 and North Central Texas Council of Governments transportation staff on Jan. 23, 2019. A United Educators Association representative spoke in public comment.
The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included the engagement of the law firm Walsh Gallegos Trevino Russo & Kyle P.C. The board approved the 2018-2019 District Improvement Plan, 6-0, and the 2018-2019 campus improvement plans, 6-0, presented by Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney and Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey.
Crissey reviewed district-wide instructional rounds; two District of Innovation committee members led the board through the proposed exemptions, with a first reading planned for January and adoption in February; and Superintendent Susan Bohn and Husfeld presented the bond planning and process update, with demographic and financial information on growth areas and debt management. After an executive session from 10:06 to 10:50 p.m., the meeting adjourned at 10:53 p.m.
