Officers were re-elected 7-0: Collins president, Lear vice president, Tarrant secretary. The Aledo Education Foundation presented a donation, and the district's first FAA-certified commercial drone pilots were recognized.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met May 19, 2025, with all seven trustees present. Forrest Collins, Place 4, and Lynn Morgan, Place 5, were sworn in to three-year terms, and Trustee Jennifer Taylor was honored for her years of service on the board. Superintendent Susan Bohn shared the year's volunteer and mentor hours, Trustee Jeremy Pruett updated the board on the strategic partners, Jack Huxel and board members of the Aledo Education Foundation presented a donation to the district, and Vice President David Lear reviewed bills in the legislative session that would affect public education.
Annetta Elementary presented on its Character House leaders. The board commended the Aledo Middle School vertical math team, the month's Bearcats of Character, four Circle of Greatness honorees, the first Aledo High School CTE Aviation students to earn FAA commercial drone pilot certificates, UIL journalism qualifiers and the yearbook's Gold Star, a VASE state champion, state qualifiers in golf, tennis and track and field including a state bronze in the 1,600, a swim and dive Super Elite team selection, academic all-state athletes, a robotics team's 10th-place state finish, and HOSA state qualifiers including a clinical nursing gold medalist. Members of the public spoke during public comment.
The consent agenda passed 7-0 and included the audit firm engagement letter for the 2024-2025 audit, cheerleader and dance uniform purchases for the high school and both middle schools, a McCall Elementary Ed-Flex Title I schoolwide waiver and a foreign exchange student waiver. The board then approved, each 7-0, the purchase of Really Great Reading products, NWEA's MAP Growth and IXL Learning language arts, math and real-time diagnostic, presented by Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill, and additional staff positions for 2025-2026, presented by Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared daily impact walk data and Math Coordinator Deanne Torres gave a math update; Raymond previewed changes to policy DEC(Local) on leaves and absences; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld discussed extending the bank depository contract. After an executive session on the superintendent's performance update and board officer organization, the board elected Collins president, Lear vice president and Zachary Tarrant secretary, each 7-0.
