School board approves the superintendent's 2024-2025 contract and hears the education foundation's safety campaign
Collins reviewed the district's safety and security measures; staff reported on dual credit, OnRamps, AP and college, career and military readiness.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Sept. 17, 2024, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear present; Hoyt Harris joined at 6:03 p.m. Collins discussed the safety and security measures in place across the district. Superintendent Susan Bohn thanked the high school leadership team for homecoming week. Lear reported on the legislative subcommittee's work organizing priorities for the coming session and explained the district's Local Government Collaborative.
McCall Elementary presented its Saddle Up and Read initiative. The board commended the month's Bearcats of Character and McCall's kindergarten team, and Aledo Education Foundation board member Jake Battenfield described the AEF fall campaign for the district's safety and security needs, the opening of teacher grant applications and the Bearcat Blast clay shoot fundraiser.
The consent agenda passed 6-0 and included the 2024-2025 School Health Advisory Council appointees, resolutions on the investment program and the designation of the investment officer, the 2024-2025 memorandum of understanding with the Aledo Education Foundation, and class size waivers. Tarrant left the meeting at 6:55 p.m. The board approved a grounds services contract amendment for Lynn McKinney Elementary, 6-0, and after an executive session on the superintendent's contract and evaluation instrument, approved the 2024-2025 superintendent contract as presented, 6-0.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey presented the district instructional focus and Director of Advanced Academics and CTE Angie Wilkinson reviewed OnRamps, dual credit and AP options and the district's college, career and military readiness metrics; Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell updated the 2023 bond projects; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld gave public notice of the 2024-2025 federal grant applications; Bohn discussed the draft campus and district improvement plans; and Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond previewed Board Policy Update 123.
