School board adopts the District of Innovation plan and its policy changes, sets the 2019-2020 calendar, and hears the growth committee's early case for elementary and middle school space
Every vote was 6-0. Thompson & Horton LLP was engaged on consent, and Templeton Demographics stressed ten years of growth.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Feb. 19, 2019, with President Hoyt Harris, Secretary Forrest Collins and Trustees David Lear, Bobby J. Rigues, Jessica Brown and Julie Turner present. Vandagriff Elementary presented. The board commended two all-state choir members and Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney's Camp Fire Ella C. McFadden Service to Youth Award. Harris said Collins had been nominated to the Texas Education Agency's board of trustees advisory council. A representative of an educators' association gave trustees a teacher salary comparison. The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included the engagement of the law firm Thompson & Horton LLP.
Bearcat Growth Committee co-chairs Jim Scott and Christy James reported on the committee's first two meetings, with the takeaway so far being the need for more elementary and middle school learning space, and Templeton Demographics presented the spring 2019 report emphasizing growth areas over the next ten years. Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey reported rising implementation of the instructional focus.
The board approved, each 6-0: adoption of the Aledo ISD District of Innovation Plan; the related policy changes to AF, DBA, DK, DNA, DNB, EB and FO(Local); and the 2019-2020 district-wide calendar. After an executive session from 7:54 to 8:45 p.m., the meeting adjourned at 8:46 p.m.
