School board approves Aledo Middle School turf replacement, Chromebooks and a high school auditorium audio upgrade
Annetta Elementary won a Solution Tree PLC at Work award, the ag barn addition and Steve Wood Complex neared completion, and a wage resolution for emergency closings passed on consent. Every vote was 6-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met March 17, 2025, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jim Scott, Jennifer Taylor and David Lear present; Hoyt Harris joined at 6:03 p.m. Collins thanked Superintendent Susan Bohn for her leadership and discussed the district's budget work. Bohn previewed the end of the year for seniors, thanked the community for accommodating staff planning days, and encouraged residents to join the SilverCats program. Lear reported on the 89th Legislative Session and the education bills being discussed and their possible effect on the budget, and Tarrant reported on the ag barn addition and the Steve Wood Complex from the 2023 bond.
McKinney Elementary presented on its principal cohort, and the board commended Annetta Elementary's fourth-grade team and its Solution Tree Promising Practices PLC at Work award, the month's Bearcats of Character, a National Merit finalist, academic all-state swimmers, a VASE qualifier and UIL state swimming and diving qualifiers. Members of the community spoke during public comment.
The consent agenda, approved 6-0, included a resolution on wage payments during emergency school closings. The board approved, each 6-0, the replacement of the Aledo Middle School stadium turf, presented by Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Chris Campbell, and the purchase of Chromebooks and an audio system upgrade for the Aledo High School auditorium, presented by Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared student Look For data and Social Studies Coordinator Cathy Williams gave a curriculum update; Campbell updated the board on the remaining 2023 bond projects; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld updated the 2024-2025 general fund; and Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond previewed the eight local policies in Board Policy Update 124. An executive session on the superintendent's performance update was posted.
