Growth committee unveils concepts for a college and career academy and a second high school; board adopts a math curriculum and 2026-27 staffing
Huckabee Architects presented the Aledo Growth Committee's conceptual designs. Staff also previewed a TASB pay study, Senate Bill 546's effect on transportation, and contracts for parking, custodial and grounds work.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 20, 2026, with Trustees Forrest Collins, Zachary Tarrant, Jeremy Pruett, Jim Scott and Lynn Morgan present. Pruett reported on the Aledo Education Foundation's gala the previous weekend, and Morgan on the PTO and AdvoCats, including the Run, Walk, Crawl Grow Run fundraiser. The board commended McCall Elementary's fifth-grade team, the month's Bearcats of Character, the district art show winners, a National Merit finalist, 12 robotics state qualifiers, HOSA state competitors, a VASE state qualifier, powerlifting honorees, and the 2025-2026 Teacher Leadership Cohort. McCall Elementary presented on the LEAD initiative.
Aledo Growth Committee co-chairs Dan Reilley and Kelli Stumbo presented the committee's work on future high school space, and Casey Casstevens and Joshua Cogburn of Huckabee Architects shared the conceptual designs the committee produced, including a College and Career Academy and a second high school. Tarrant thanked the committee for its work.
The board approved 5-0 the adoption of a math curriculum, presented by Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill, and new staffing positions for the 2026-2027 school year, presented by Deputy Superintendent Kim Raymond. The consent agenda, also 5-0, included the instructional materials TEKS certification and the E-Rate resolution for 2026-2027.
In communication items, Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared Cycle 3 professional learning community ratings; Summerhill discussed purchases of IXL Learning language arts and math, Really Great Reading products and NWEA's MAP Growth; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld introduced a TASB pay study specialist who presented the 2025-2026 pay systems review, gave a transportation update regarding Senate Bill 546, and reviewed the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 general fund budgets; and Chief Facilities and Construction Officer Caleb Bell discussed a Teague Nall and Perkins contract for evaluation, design and construction documents for the Aledo Middle School and Early Childhood Academy parking and drives, a one-year custodial extension with McLemore Building Maintenance and a one-year grounds extension with Lawn Patrol. The board recessed from 8:35 to 8:43 p.m. and met in executive session from 9:12 to 9:57 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter.
