Named Texas Honor Board of the Year, the board adopts the 2021-2022 improvement plans, grants Fort Worth and Tri-County easements, and revises the superintendent's contract
Every vote was 7-0. Sterling Naron was nominated to the appraisal district board, and the district adopted the Positivity Project as its character education program.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Oct. 18, 2021, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Susan Bohn congratulated the board on being named Texas Honor Board of the Year, noted early voting was under way and said the district would use the Positivity Project as its state-required character education program. Forrest Collins reported on the special legislative session's education bills.
The Daniel Ninth Grade campus presented. The board commended the middle school Honor Winds' invitation to the Midwest Clinic, College Board National Recognition Program scholars, National Merit commended scholars and two semifinalists. Members of the community spoke. The consent agenda passed 7-0 and included a grade 7 reading diagnostic waiver, class size exception waivers, an interlocal agreement with the Town of Annetta on a utility vehicle and a remote homebound attendance waiver.
The board approved, each 7-0: the 2021-2022 district and campus improvement plans; the nomination of Sterling Naron to the Parker County Appraisal District board; a Tri-County Electric Cooperative electric line easement and right of way for power at Bearcat Park; technology license and warranty renewals; a right-of-way easement and a pedestrian access easement with the City of Fort Worth; and furniture for Aledo Middle School. After an executive session on the superintendent's performance update, contract and evaluation instrument, it accepted the revised superintendent's contract, 7-0.
Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and instructional specialists reviewed the district's professional learning community measures, Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill reviewed beginning-of-year data, Aledo Education Foundation executive director Shawn Callaway presented the foundation's 2020-2021 financial report, and Director of Facilities and Construction Tyler Boswell updated the 2019 bond.
