School board buys the Skyward system and police radios, adopts 27 local policies, and celebrates an A in the state's financial integrity rating
Ladycat volleyball's UIL state bronze was recognized, the draft 2026-2027 calendar was previewed, and a general fund budget amendment passed 7-0.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Dec. 16, 2025, with all seven trustees present. The Aledo High School choir performed a holiday song. President Forrest Collins thanked parents and volunteers and congratulated the varsity football team and the programs that make up the game-day experience; co-chairs of the Aledo Growth Committee updated the board on its work. Vandagriff Elementary and Aledo Middle School presented, and the board commended Vandagriff's fifth-grade team, the month's Bearcats of Character, an Nfinity All-American athlete, the Ladycat volleyball team as UIL state bronze medalists, academic all-state honorees in cross country and volleyball, and the district's A rating in the School FIRST financial integrity system.
Three people spoke on non-agenda items. The consent agenda passed 7-0 and included an interlocal agreement to join the Region 10 Education Service Center multi-region purchasing cooperative, Board Resolution 12162025-1 with policies FNA(Local) and DGA(Local) regarding Texas Education Code Section 25.0823(a-1), vendor lists and off-campus PE locations.
The board approved, each 7-0: the purchase of the Skyward student information and enterprise resource planning system, presented by Chief Technology Officer Brooks Moore; the purchase of a distributed antenna system and county-access police radios using Safe-Cycle grant funds, presented by Chief of Police David Stevens; Board Policy Update 126, the 27 local policies previewed in November; and an amendment to the 2025-2026 general fund budget.
In communication items, Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey shared daily impact walk data and reading and language arts staff gave an update; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented the School FIRST rating report and a general fund budget update; Director of Assessment and Accountability Candace Summerhill discussed the draft 2026-2027 instructional calendar; Stevens discussed wide area repeater system upgrades for radio operability; and Moore discussed a purchase of staff computers. The board met in executive session from 8:17 p.m. on the superintendent's performance update and evaluation instrument, consultation with its attorney, real property and a student matter, and adjourned at 9:08 p.m.
