After the Fast Growth Coalition, the board rethinks its bond committee and starts an attendance-zone policy
Trustees heard that other districts had the same bond-planning difficulties and that committees should include skeptics. No action was taken.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session March 7, 2018, with all seven trustees present. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Trustee Forrest Collins reported on the Fast Growth Coalition meeting and on a session Superintendent Derek Citty arranged with three superintendents, an architect and a lawyer on bond committee planning; they found most districts had the same difficulties, that committee makeup mattered and should not be too large, and that skeptics should be included so they know what is going on. Citty said he would bring a synopsis to a March 19 work session and an action item in April, with a suggestion to rename the committee the Facility Advisory Committee. Executive Director of Curriculum Kathy Allen had trustees prioritize value and process statements toward a draft attendance-zone policy for April. The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
