The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Oct. 20, 2014, with all seven trustees present. The Daniel Ninth Grade campus presented its Friends of Rachel program. Superintendent Derek Citty reported seventeen events held to share information on the bond program and previewed Bearcat Academy and the Oct. 27 training. The board commended the high school wind ensemble, National Merit commended scholars and a Bayard H. Friedman Award winner. Hoyt Harris reported the education foundation was hiring an executive director, and foundation president Shawn Callaway distributed the annual report and thanked Pressman Printing for in-kind printing. Bobby J. Rigues presented proposed changes to the board operating procedure manual for a November vote and reported on the TASA/TASB convention and a House public education hearing. A resident spoke about the math curriculum.
The consent agenda passed 7-0. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld reported a Superior School FIRST rating and previewed a fund balance policy; Executive Director of Curriculum Kathy Allen presented the instructional materials adoption process for 2014-2015.
After a recess, with David Davis having left at 8:28 p.m., the board approved, each 6-0: the campus improvement plans; the district holiday card winners; a radio communication system purchase; the School Health Advisory Council recommendations; the spring band trip to Florida; and the 2014-2015 textbook committee. An executive session from 9:28 to 10:30 p.m. ended with no action, and the meeting adjourned at 10:31 p.m.
