The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met April 17, 2018, with all seven trustees present once Vice President Hoyt Harris and Secretary Jennifer Loftin arrived. In a work session, a TASB representative presented the pay systems review. Vandagriff Elementary demonstrated Capturing Kids' Hearts. Superintendent Derek Citty reported the district had taken back vehicle registrations in the Dallas County Schools dissolution and gave an update on portable classrooms at Vandagriff. The board commended a 12th Congressional District art winner, a congressional-choice art winner and Duke talent search honorees. President Jay Stringer said Dr. Susan K. Bohn had been named lone finalist April 5, that the 21-day waiting period would end April 26 and that a vote was set for April 27, and reported that all trustees had exceeded their training hours. Loftin reported the Bearcats and Boots gala drew more than 600 people and raised more than $240,000 for classroom grants. A resident spoke about pay structure.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included opposition to the Brazos River Charter School and Trinity Basin Preparatory charter applications. The board approved the purchase of two school buses for special education students under the 2015 bond program and phase 1 of the 2018 summer maintenance projects, interior and exterior door locks, each 7-0.
After an executive session from 7:59 to 9:32 p.m. that included the Elementary School No. 6 site contract, professional contracts and the lone finalist contract, the board approved the professional contracts and the appointment of Rebecca Faulkner as special programs specialist, each 7-0. Trustees and Citty thanked Stringer, who adjourned his last regular meeting at 9:41 p.m.
