School board adopts the 2018-2019 budget and tax rate, makes the instructional focus the district's foundation in place of the strategic plan, buys NWEA's MAP, and calls part of the 2007 bonds

Every vote was 7-0. One resident spoke at the hearing and applauded the budget. The adopted rate is not stated in the minutes.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Aug. 27, 2018, with all seven trustees present. A public hearing on the 2018-2019 budget and proposed tax rate ran from 7:03 to 7:27 p.m.; one resident spoke about the budget, taxes and a bond, and applauded the budget as presented. Superintendent Susan Bohn reported a successful first day of school.

The board approved, each 7-0: discontinuing the 2018-2019 extension of the district strategic plan and adopting the 2018-2019 instructional focus as the foundation of the district's work for the year, on Bohn's recommendation; two new positions, a trainer at Aledo Middle School and an administrative assistant; NWEA's proposal for MAP Growth K-2, MAP Growth in math, reading and language, and MAP Skills; adoption of the 2018-2019 revenues and appropriations budgets for the general, child nutrition and debt service funds; a resolution calling a portion of the Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2007, for redemption before maturity; the 2018-2019 tax rate, whose amount the minutes do not state; and the final amended budget for 2017-2018.

After an executive session from 8:35 to 9:47 p.m. on a candidate and the superintendent's evaluation instrument, the board approved Melissa Quisenberry as instructional technology specialist, 7-0, and adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
