The special meeting also approved a storage area network and Annetta Elementary technology, each 7-0, and the superintendent addressed the district's work on racism in its schools.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session April 15, 2021, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Susan Bohn addressed the board and community about the district's work on creating an environment in which all students feel safe and on addressing racism in its schools. Executive Director of Student Services Scott Kessel presented state, county and district COVID-19 case numbers, and members of the public spoke.

On a motion by Jennifer Loftin seconded by President Hoyt Harris, the board voted 6-1 to amend campus COVID-19 mask protocols from required to strongly recommended but not required. The minutes do not record the dissenting vote. The board then approved the purchase of technology equipment for a storage area network and an amended technology purchase for Annetta Elementary, each 7-0, presented by Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Director of Technology Brooks Moore.
