Aledo Council Chambers, 200 Old Annetta Road
Council passes the golf cart and e-bike ordinances, 2026-O-24 and 2026-O-25, and the Aledo Shell variance, all by unanimous vote
Five members present, Councilmember Matt Poston absent; two executive sessions with no action; the FY 2027 fee schedule and a food truck ordinance discussed in work session.
The Aledo City Council met Sept. 17, 2026, at 200 Old Annetta Road with Mayor Shane Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Summer Jones and Councilmembers Ben Clark, Todd Covington and Melanie Allen present and Councilmember Matt Poston absent, per the minutes. City Manager Candice Edmondson, City Secretary Staci L. King and City Attorney Alicia K. Kreh were present.
Ordinance No. 2026-O-24, regulating golf carts and ATVs, off-road vehicles, utility vehicles and recreational off-road vehicles within the city limits, passed by unanimous vote on a motion by Summer Jones, second by Melanie Allen. Chief of Police Carol Riddle presented it as drafted from feedback on the Sept. 3 presentation; the minutes say it would allow the operation of golf carts on certain roadways and required certain safety requirements specified by state law.
Ordinance No. 2026-O-25, regulating bicycles and e-bikes within the city limits, passed by unanimous vote on a motion by Melanie Allen, second by Summer Jones; the minutes say it incorporated a local policy option available under state law.
The variance for Aledo Shell, 401 S FM 1187, from Section 14-137's distance requirement for alcoholic beverage sales near a school (Aledo Middle School) passed by unanimous vote on a motion by Todd Covington, second by Ben Clark. Mayor Davis opened the public hearing at 8:09 p.m.; no one came forward to speak in favor or in opposition.
The consent agenda, with the prior minutes and Resolution No. 2026-R-17 adopting the City of Aledo Investment Policy, passed by unanimous vote on a motion by Ben Clark, second by Summer Jones. No one came forward at citizen appearances.
Work sessions: Ms. Edmondson presented a proposed food truck ordinance that would reflect changes in state law and separate requirements for individual food truck units and food truck parks; the council gave feedback and a revised ordinance will be brought back for approval at a later date. She also presented the FY 2026-2027 fee schedule, set for final review at the Oct. 1 meeting.
Executive sessions: 6:06 to 7:14 p.m. on the Capital Lane Advisors Proposal, and 8:21 to 9:22 p.m. on Dean Ranch Development Standards, Downtown Development, the City of Aledo and City of Fort Worth v. City of Willow Park, Beall-Dean Ranch and Parker County potential Settlement Agreement, and the Dean Ranch Development Agreement. No action was taken after either. The meeting adjourned at 9:22 p.m.
Recognitions: Parker County Genealogy and Historical Society members Vickie Ballow and Tony King were recognized for volunteer work documenting Aledo's downtown history and architecture as part of the city's involvement in the Texas Historical Commission's First Street Initiative. Mayor Davis and Councilmember Clark thanked Laura Weber, Communications and Events Manager, for her service to the City of Aledo.
