What differs is what a city controls: its tax rate, its council, its police, its water. This page compares those, and only those. It does not rank the cities or the people in them.

City property tax rate, 2026
Adopted Sept. 8, 5-0 on a roll call, by Ordinance 948-26, per the draft minutes in the Sept. 22 packet (minutes not yet approved).
Per $100 of taxable value, on top of the school district, the county and any other unit that taxes the parcel.

Police
Chief Carol L. Riddle. Began operations January 2026; Parker County deputies cover 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. under contract.
Water and sewer
Inside the city, the City of Aledo provides water and wastewater; service starts with a residential or commercial application, wastewater is billed on winter-average water use, and rates are in the city's fee schedule effective Oct. 1, 2024.

A fiscal 2026-27 utility fee ordinance on the Sept. 22 agenda leaves water base rates and wastewater rates unchanged and proposes residential volumetric charges of $4.13, $5.17, $6.44 and $8.20 per 1,000 gallons across four tiers, with residential and senior deposits rising from $100 to $150; the council is also asked to authorize Jacob & Martin Engineering to solicit bids to replace the El Chico Pump Station ground storage tank.

In court with each other
Settlement approved by Aledo; terms not on the record. Per the draft minutes in the Oct. 15 council packet, the council on Oct. 1, 2026 heard developers RJ Sikes and Joe McKie on their vision for the Dean Ranch property at a 5 p.m. work session, recessed into executive session from 7:12 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., and then approved the settlement for Aledo and Fort Worth v. Willow Park, Beall-Dean Ranch, and Parker County by unanimous vote on a motion by Summer Jones, second by Matthew Poston, with Councilman Todd Covington abstaining due to a conflict of interest. The minutes do not describe the settlement's terms; no court filing closing the case was on the record as of Oct. 11. Dean Ranch Development is listed again for executive session Oct. 15.
The county water agency both are weighing
Aledo is in. Resolution No. 2026-R-19 creating the Parker County Public Utility Agency and authorizing the City of Aledo's membership passed by unanimous vote Oct. 1, 2026, on a motion by Todd Covington, second by Ben Clark, and the Agreement regarding the Creation and Initial Funding of the agency passed by unanimous vote on a motion by Summer Jones, second by Todd Covington, per the draft minutes in the Oct. 15 council packet; the city manager told the council the agency has 14 initial participating entities. Willow Park's council was asked Sept. 22 to join; its vote was not on the record as of Oct. 11.

The other places on the same mail route
Hudson Oaks, Annetta, Annetta North and Annetta South set their own rates and keep their own councils, and Walsh is inside the City of Fort Worth. Their 2026 rates are on the Growth Ledger as each posts them, and the estimator leaves a city's line blank until it has a document for it. On county land there is no city rate at all; Parker County is the local government.
