Aledo vs North Crowley score: Bearcats lose 0-26

The game, from the record

North Crowley scored 13 points in each of the first two quarters and Aledo did not score, per the MaxPreps quarter line; the second half was scoreless. Aledo had 17 first downs to North Crowley's 16 and was penalized five times for 35 yards to North Crowley's 13 for 121, per MaxPreps.

How the points came, per the WFAA broadcast: a 55-yard touchdown pass for North Crowley with the extra point no good; an interception of Aledo quarterback Tre Williams returned 72 yards for a touchdown; a 12-yard touchdown pass to finish a 10-play, 47-yard drive; and a 65-yard touchdown pass before halftime. The broadcast also credited North Crowley's quarterback with three touchdown passes and noted a lost fumble by Williams in the first half.

The game, as called on the radio

As called on 92.1 Hank FM by Kevin Lonnquist and Kyle Hix, with Mercedes Myer on the sideline, at Crowley ISD's multipurpose stadium, the third time the crew said Aledo had played there, on a night that started hot: North Crowley's first score was a 55-yard touchdown pass, with the extra point no good, for 6-0. Aledo's next possession ended with Tre Williams intercepted and the ball returned 74 yards for a touchdown, and the first quarter also brought a sack that left Aledo punting from its own end zone. In the second quarter a 12-yard catch-and-run touchdown pass made it 20-0, and a fourth touchdown pass before halftime made it 26-0; Jordan Cooper blocked the extra point and Aledo recovered it. At the half the crew had North Crowley's quarterback 10 of 15 for 181 yards and three touchdowns, and Williams 7 of 12 for 98 with the interception; Jeremiah Johnson had 10 carries.

The second half was scoreless, and the broadcast's account of it is about the line of scrimmage: Aledo's quarterbacks were sacked five times for 48 yards by the fourth quarter, a delay-of-game and a personal foul stacked on top, and one sack knocked the ball loose for Aledo's second turnover. Elijah Pinnick took snaps at quarterback late. On the other side the crew credited Aledo's defense, which allowed nothing after halftime, with two sacks of its own, one by Ashton Hebel chasing the quarterback down from behind, and singled out Dean Timmerman among the blockers. Late in the game, with Aledo at the 8 and a field goal available, the crew discussed whether to kick it to extend the scoring streak; Aledo went for the touchdown instead and did not get it, and the streak the crew described as 328 consecutive games with a score, dating to a game at the old Texas Stadium 22 seasons earlier, ended at 26-0. The postgame crew called North Crowley's defense the story of the night and the stadium, in the crew's words, a blessing to play in, in front of a big crowd that had thinned by the fourth quarter.
