School board hires Steve Wood as athletic director, accepts the 2018 audit, orders the May 4 election, and sends 124 staff to a PLC conference for about $83,000

The 2018 Class 5A Division II state champion football team was honored and the PTO donated $80,000. Every vote was 7-0.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Jan. 22, 2019, with all seven trustees present. Aledo Middle School presented. The board marked School Board Recognition Month, honored a Texas horse judging high-point individual and the football team as Class 5A Division II state champions, drew ten teachers for fall-semester attendance awards, and accepted an $80,000 donation from the Aledo ISD Parent Teacher Organization. After a ten-minute closed session, it approved Superintendent Susan Bohn's recommendation to hire Steve Wood as athletic director, 7-0. A resident spoke about plans for Phase II of the Walsh development.

The board approved, each 7-0: a right-of-way easement to the City of Fort Worth; the annual financial report for the year ended Aug. 31, 2018, presented by Don Richardson of Kirk & Richardson; an order calling the May 4, 2019, trustee election for Places 4 and 5; a joint election agreement and contract for election services with Parker County; and attendance by 124 staff members at the Solution Tree PLC at Work conference in Fort Worth in June 2019 at a cost of approximately $83,000.

Assistant Superintendent Amber Crissey and two principals reported on the instructional focus and response-to-intervention training; Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney and committee members presented the draft District of Innovation plan and its policy changes; McKinney and Crissey presented the proposed 2019-2020 calendar; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented the budget calendar, noting certified values would not arrive until July 25. After an executive session from 9:48 to 11:16 p.m., the meeting adjourned at 11:17 p.m.
