Aledo Council Chambers, 200 Old Annetta Road

Council updates Fort Worth impact-fee pass-throughs, renews the mountain bike club's trail agreement, and ends the municipal judge's contract

A proposal to rename the Community Center for longtime resident Terry Hyles was tabled until the city has a facility-naming policy.

The Aledo City Council met Feb. 19, 2026, at 200 Old Annetta Road with Mayor Shane Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Shawna Ford and Councilmembers Ben Clark, Todd Covington and Summer Jones present. No one came forward during citizen appearances.

The council unanimously approved Ordinance No. 2026-O-10, amending Ordinance 2022-154, the impact fee collection rate schedule, and Ordinance C-2012-010, the city's schedule of rates, fees and charges, to reflect impact fee pass-through charges from the City of Fort Worth. City Manager Candice Edmondson said the amendment was needed to update the pass-through charges Fort Worth has established.

The council approved the first renewal of the city's user agreement with the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club for construction and maintenance of the Parks of Aledo Trails and The Pit, extending the partnership for a three-year term from March 1, 2026, to March 1, 2029, under the same terms and conditions. It also voted to cancel the March 19, 2026, regular meeting.

Davis said Commissioner Haile had asked him about renaming the Aledo Community Center the Terry Hyles Community Center, after the longtime Aledo resident. After extensive discussion, Edmondson proposed bringing a facility-naming procedure policy to a later meeting, and the council tabled the renaming on a unanimous vote.

The council met in executive session from 6:19 to 7:45 p.m. on the posted topics of the Dean Ranch development, Grand Prairie v. State, Aledo and Fort Worth v. Willow Park, the Siegmund easement agreement, municipal court, downtown development, and a personnel matter concerning the municipal judge. On reconvening, it voted unanimously to terminate the contract with the municipal judge, as discussed in executive session. On the consent agenda it approved the Feb. 5 minutes and Resolution No. 2026-R-06 amending access to the city's safe deposit box at First Financial Bank. The meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
