The Aledo City Council met April 2, 2026, at 200 Old Annetta Road with Mayor Shane Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Shawna Ford and Councilmembers Ben Clark, Todd Covington and Summer Jones present. No one came forward during citizen appearances. The mayor proclaimed April 2026 Sexual Assault Awareness Month in recognition of Freedom House of Parker County, and Ford read a proclamation for National Library Week, April 19-25.
The council unanimously awarded a contract for construction services on the Green Ribbon Landscape Improvements Project to Central North Construction in the amount of $714,971. Public Works Director Travis Askins said the city entered a contract with TxDOT on April 25, 2019, to maintain the landscaping on FM 1187, including the Green Ribbon project at a total cost of $733,204.80 split 80/20; the project went out for bids on July 19, 2025, and after scoring, the lowest bidder failed to meet TxDOT requirements, making Central North Construction the successful bidder. The council then approved Project Order Number 2026-01 with Kimley-Horn and Associates for construction-phase services on the project in the amount of $107,000, under the city's master agreement for continuing professional services.
After a public hearing at which no one spoke, the council unanimously approved Ordinance No. 2026-O-15 changing the zoning of 2 Dean Drive, Block 1, Lots 2R1 through 2R5, 5.23 acres of the Mid-Park Business Community south of Dean Drive and Bankhead Highway, from an interim Agricultural classification to C-3 Regional Commercial. It also approved Ordinance No. 2026-O-16 amending the FY 2025-2026 municipal fee schedule with revised Community Center fees; Community Services Director Erika Cooper-Bateman said staff compared rental fees and policies in Hurst, Lake Worth, Watauga, Roanoke and River Oaks.
On the consent agenda the council adopted Resolution No. 2026-R-07, the revised Design Standards Manual presented in March, and Resolution No. 2026-R-08, a park and facility naming policy, approved the March 5 minutes, and canceled the April 16 regular meeting. Chief Carol Riddle presented the police department's quarterly report.
The council met in executive session from 7:22 to 8:32 p.m. on the posted topics of the Dean Ranch development conversation, Grand Prairie v. State, Aledo and Fort Worth v. Willow Park, a library agreement with Parker County, downtown development, and a Your Personal Chef rebate infrastructure agreement, and adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
