Aledo Council Chambers, 200 Old Annetta Road
Council elects Summer Jones mayor pro tem, buys an $82,461 jetter, approves the Your Personal Chef rebate, and adds Parker County to the Willow Park lawsuit
Freese and Nichols briefed the council on the Parker County Public Utility Agency, and the police chief opened the discussion on golf cart and e-bike rules that will return as a draft ordinance.
The Aledo City Council met June 4, 2026, at 200 Old Annetta Road with Mayor Shane Davis and Councilmembers Ben Clark, Todd Covington, Matthew Poston, Summer Jones and Melanie Allen present. A resident addressed the council about residential housing types and development in Aledo. The council unanimously elected Jones mayor pro tem.
Jessica Brown of Freese and Nichols presented the Parker County Public Utility Agency and its water supply initiative; no action was taken. After a second-reading public hearing at which no one spoke, the council unanimously approved the economic development incentive agreement with Your Personal Chef.
Public Works Director Travis Askins brought two items. The council approved the purchase of a jetter from Texas Municipal Equipment for $82,461, replacing a 2008 model that had become increasingly costly to repair, funded from the utility capital project fund. It also approved a two-year contract renewal with Magna Flow for cleaning and sludge removal in the water and wastewater systems, covering line cleaning, quarterly lift station cleaning, sludge removal at the treatment plant and emergency support; Askins said the renewal limits the city's ability to use another vendor but locks in the rate.
Police Chief Carol Riddle gave an overview of what the city may regulate for golf carts and e-bikes and what neighboring communities have adopted, and asked the council for input before a draft ordinance returns for approval. On the consent agenda the council approved Resolution No. 2026-R-10 designating Summer Blast a special event and the May 7 minutes.
After an executive session from 7:36 to 8:56 p.m. on the Dean Ranch development, Aledo and Fort Worth v. Willow Park and downtown development, the council voted to add Parker County as a defendant in the City of Aledo and City of Fort Worth v. City of Willow Park lawsuit. The vote was unanimous with Covington recusing himself. Staff updated the council on weather preparation for Summer Blast and the library's summer reading program, and the meeting adjourned at 9:07 p.m.
