Aledo Council Chambers, 200 Old Annetta Road

Council seeks $2 million for Lasater Addition water mains, rezones the Aledo mobile home park under the new MH district, and orders a water and wastewater master plan update

A public art program policy and a subdivision-process cleanup of the development code also passed unanimously, and third-quarter financials showed sales and mixed-beverage tax ahead of benchmark.

The Aledo City Council met July 16, 2026, at 6:14 p.m. at 200 Old Annetta Road with Mayor Shane Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Summer Jones and Councilmembers Ben Clark, Todd Covington, Matthew Poston and Melanie Allen present. A resident of Sagebrush Drive asked about a water leak in the Brookhollow neighborhood. Davis proclaimed July Park and Recreation Month and recognized members of the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club for maintaining the city's trails, and Angie Thompson of Parker County Connect described her senior programs at the Community Center.

After a public hearing at which no one spoke, the council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2026-R-13 authorizing an application to the Texas Water Development Board for the Lasater Addition water system improvements. Dylan Swoboda of Kimley-Horn said the city is seeking $2,000,000 in grant funding to replace approximately 13,500 linear feet of aging water main with larger lines, replace valves and install fire hydrants in the city's oldest neighborhood; the project is at 90% design, Kimley-Horn is preparing the application, and applications are due July 31, 2026.

The council unanimously approved Ordinance No. 2026-O-19, which aligns the subdivision process in the Unified Development Code with standard Texas practice by correcting the development process flow chart, clarifying plat recordation eligibility and making other consistency revisions, and Ordinance No. 2026-O-20, a city-initiated rezoning of the 23.774-acre Aledo MH Park at 124 Yates Circle, including addresses on Yates Circle, Langham Drive, Rogers Court, Feedlot Road and Old Annetta Road, from Planned Development-Manufactured Homes to the new Manufactured Homes district created May 7 in response to Senate Bill 785, which takes effect Sept. 1, 2026. Grant Fore of the Berkley Group said the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended both unanimously on June 11. No one spoke at either hearing.

The council approved a professional services agreement with Freese and Nichols for an updated water and wastewater master plan, with a scope covering updated population and land use projections, hydraulic model updates, system capacity evaluation and an updated capital improvement plan, drawing on the comprehensive plan update and known development activity. It also adopted Resolution No. 2026-R-14, a public art program policy meant as a framework for larger installations and partnerships while the EDC's community enhancement program funds smaller projects. On the consent agenda it approved an amendment to the dispatch services agreement with Parker County, ratified the Library Board's vice chair selection, and approved the June 18 and June 25 minutes.

City Manager Candice Edmondson presented third-quarter financial and investment reports through June 30, 2026, reporting bank deposits 194.091% collateralized and general fund revenues, including sales and mixed beverage tax collections, exceeding the benchmark for this point in the year. The council met in executive session from 7:13 to 8:27 p.m. on the Dean Ranch development, Aledo and Fort Worth v. Willow Park, downtown development, 2 Dean Drive and the Bailey Ranch development, took no action, and adjourned at 8:27 p.m.
