Where to find things
Links to the sources, with a line on eachUtilities, trash, water and local government. The City of Aledo handles water, sewer and trash service for addresses inside the city: trash and recycling days, the watering schedule and starting water service, each from the city's pages. Outside the city, water may come from a utility district or a well, and Parker County handles roads and permits; the Parker County page has the court, the burn ban and the county tax rate. Electricity is Oncor or Tri-County Electric Cooperative depending on the address; the directory lists who to call.
Schools, enrollment and district resources. Registration, bus routes, lunch menus and attendance zones are on aledoisd.org; the school calendar, every campus's record and the board's decisions are here.
Parks, library, childcare, youth activities and healthcare. Every playground and park on a map; the East Parker County Library on Bailey Ranch Road; childcare centers, doctors, dentists and clinics from the state permit list, each with a map link; youth sports through the district's athletics pages and the leagues listed in the directory.
Important contacts. City Hall, the city secretary, the police chief, the school board's secretary and the county offices are in the directory, with the officials themselves on the officials pages.
What's changing. The calendar of meetings and games, the Growth Ledger of what is being built, decided and taxed, the trackers for the roads and projects that take years, and what has been decided about your subdivision.
The first 90 days
Which city you are actually in, and who represents you. Your mailing address can say Aledo while your taxes go to Willow Park or the county. Type your address and find out, or read how the lines fall, then see who sits on the council and the school board.
Your tax bill. Four taxing units, four rates. Enter your appraised value and see what each one charges, with every rate linked to the document that set it. The city's sales tax, month by month since 2013, is here.
Schools. The board meets monthly; here is every meeting since August 2023, what was decided and the minutes. Attendance zones, the calendar and registration live on the district's site; the Ledger's subscribable calendar carries the meetings and the games.
Meetings. Council on the first and third Thursday, planning commission on the second, the EDC monthly. Dates, agendas and how to speak; what happened at each one.
Your subdivision. What the city has decided about Dean Ranch, Shaw Ranch, Bailey Ranch, Dean Drive and more, compiled from the record on the places pages and in the topic threads.
Water, roads, growth. Water and wastewater, FM 1187 and the other road projects, and the comprehensive plan now being written.
