The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Dec. 16, 2013, with five trustees present: President Jay Stringer, Vice President David Davis, Steve Bartley, Bobby J. Rigues and Hoyt Harris. McCall Elementary's student council reported collecting 4,000 food items. Superintendent Derek Citty said Good Friday, April 18, and Memorial Day, May 26, 2014, would be used as two of four bad-weather makeup days. The board commended the district safety team's Texas School Safety Award, and PTO president Patti Oaks presented $60,000 for the campuses. Stringer read each trustee's continuing education hours into the record, all meeting and exceeding the requirement. Rigues described Carroll ISD's community leadership program. There were no public comments. The consent agenda passed 5-0.
Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney reported a 10th straight year of 100% highly qualified status; Citty presented his superintendent entry report; Denise Dugger presented House Bill 5's community-engagement timeline; Director of Special Programs Cheryl Wooten reported the district meets requirements in special education; Citty presented K-5 capacity projections from 2012-13 to 2023-24 and said he would recommend a long-range planning committee in January; and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld advised delaying any refinancing of the Series 2005-A bonds until the standby purchase agreement information arrives in March 2014.
The board approved, each 5-0: the Aledo ISD Education Foundation's donation of $90,585.88, presented by foundation president Shawn Callaway; the 2014-2015 school calendar; and the 2012-2013 audit report. After an executive session on the superintendent's evaluation from 8:58 to 9:26 p.m. with no action, Stringer set a Jan. 15, 2014 policy meeting with TASB's consultant, and the meeting adjourned at 9:31 p.m.
