School board calls a November 2014 bond election and adopts Policy Update 100 as enrollment is projected at 5,061

Every vote was 7-0. The superintendent presented his draft goals, and 2,600 parents had volunteered district-wide.

The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Aug. 18, 2014, with all seven trustees present. Superintendent Derek Citty reported back-to-school events, an anticipated enrollment of 5,061 as projected by Templeton Demographics, and the new Bearcat Academy, and introduced new assistant principals. Hoyt Harris and Dr. David Tillman reported for the education foundation and Community Partners; President Jay Stringer reported on the National School Boards Association Advocacy Institute. There were no public comments.

The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included 4-H adjunct professors, the appraisal calendar and appraisers, and the supplies vendor list. Citty presented his draft 2014-2015 goals; Denise Dugger presented assessment data and reported 2,600 parent volunteers district-wide, with principals describing community engagement on each campus; Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld updated the budget.

The board approved, each 7-0: an order calling a bond election; the 2014-2015 board calendar; Bobby J. Rigues as delegate and Stringer as alternate to the TASA/TASB convention; Policy Update 100; policy FFAC(Local); and a general waiver. No executive session was needed, and the meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
