School board approves 2016-2017 staffing with a hiring freeze until appraisals arrive, Technology Package 2, the school calendar and Policy Update 104
Every vote was 7-0. The board opposed a charter application on consent and saw the Promethean classroom system coming to classrooms.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met March 21, 2016, with all seven trustees present once David Davis arrived. McCall Elementary second graders demonstrated coding with iPads. Superintendent Derek Citty announced the Bond Advisory Committee's April 12 meeting, updated weather damage and enrollment, and had trustees vote for the Region 11 board. The board recognized state art and agricultural education students. Hoyt Harris reported that gala sponsorships had doubled, the golf tournament was renamed the Don R. Daniel Golf Classic for June 10, and the foundation had a new president. Bobby J. Rigues reported on the TASB grassroots priorities process. A resident spoke about accountability.
The consent agenda, approved 7-0, included the instructional materials allotment certification and opposition to the Texas Leadership Charter Academy application. Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld presented the 2016-2017 budget calendar, projections and assumptions, and instructional technology specialist April Riley demonstrated the Promethean classroom presentation system.
The board approved, each 7-0: Technology Package 2; the 2016-2017 staffing projections with a hiring freeze until appraisals are received and the budget evaluated; the 2016-2017 school calendar; and Policy Update 104. No executive session was needed, and the meeting adjourned at 9:28 p.m.
