The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met Dec. 15, 2014, with all seven trustees present once Johnny Campbell arrived. McCall Elementary's student council presented. Superintendent Derek Citty announced early release Dec. 18 and 19, the holiday break, a Jan. 5 special meeting on the bond survey results, the trustee election timeline with filing opening Jan. 28 and the election May 9, and the Bearcats' state championship game against Temple that Saturday. The board commended a student council sponsor, Percussive Arts International participants, a state cross country runner and academic all-state seniors. President Jay Stringer read the annual training report: no Tier One required in a non-legislative year, Team of Eight completed Oct. 27, Tier Two and Three met by all, with hours listed for each trustee. Hoyt Harris said the education foundation would present teacher grants in January. There were no public comments.
The consent agenda passed 7-0. Citty, Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld and Rocky Gardiner of Templeton Demographics presented the annual ten-year demographic report; Director of Special Programs Cheryl Wooten reported the district 100% compliant in special education; Denise Dugger presented the Texas Academic Performance Report; and Deputy Superintendent Lynn McKinney reported an 11th consecutive year of highly qualified status.
The board approved, each 7-0: accepting $179,544.22 from the Aledo Education Foundation for 41 teacher grants; the 2015-2016 school calendar; policy CE(Local) on fund balance and the annual operating budget; postponing the REAL Essentials School Health Advisory Council program; the Siemens Industry fire alarm maintenance agreement; and an extension of the AISD 2025 Committee. After an executive session from 9:10 to 10:43 p.m., it approved policy CKE(Local), 7-0, and adjourned at 10:45 p.m.
