School board calls the May 2015 bond election: $28,800,000 in Proposition 1 and $24,400,000 in Proposition 2
The vote was 7-0 after the 2025 Committee's presentation on safety, technology and capital projects. A new air-conditioned bus costs $95,000 to $100,000, the superintendent said.
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees met in special session Feb. 25, 2015, with all seven trustees present once David Davis, Johnny Campbell and Dr. David Tillman arrived. An instructional technology specialist presented on mobile learning. Superintendent Derek Citty answered questions received after the Feb. 16 bond presentation: an air-conditioned school bus with a video recorder costs between $95,000 and $100,000, the district has 64 buses and most proposed buses are replacements, and the cost difference between McCall Elementary and the proposed new elementary is construction inflation, per VLK's Leesa Vardeman. Vardeman, Citty and Chief Financial Officer Earl Husfeld walked the board through the 2025 Committee's bond presentation.
On a motion by Davis seconded by Campbell, the board approved the order calling a bond election with two propositions, Proposition 1 for $28,800,000 and Proposition 2 for $24,400,000, 7-0. The board set a March 16 workshop on trustees' and employees' roles in bond elections and thanked the 2025 Committee. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
